Template Versioning
Understand how template versioning works and how immutable links ensure consistency.
Why Versioning Matters
When you use a template to create an evaluation, the evaluation locks to that specific version of the template. If you later update the template, existing evaluations continue using the original version. This immutability ensures that evaluation criteria remain consistent throughout the rating process.
How Versioning Works
- When you create or update a template, a new version is created automatically.
- Each version gets a unique identifier that cannot be changed.
- Evaluations reference a specific template version, not the template itself.
- You can view the version history of any template to see what changed.
Immutable Links
Each template version has an immutable link. If you share this link with collaborators, they will always see the exact same template configuration regardless of any future updates you make to the template.
Updating Templates
To update a template, open it and make your changes. When you save, a new version is created. New evaluations will use the latest version by default, while existing evaluations remain on their original version.
